Item: Heavy Cut Glass Bowl
Make: Unknown, possibly American
Age: c. 1900
Construction: Cut and Wheel Etched Glass
Dimensions: 4 7/8" Tall x 10" Diameter

Details: Large, deep clear glass bowl with scalloped edge. Decorative components include cut and deeply wheel-etched elements. Overall design is repeated three times around the bowl. Cut sheaves of wheat near scalloped edge surmount a deeply etched flower with cut leaves radiating from an etched central flower on bottom of bowl. A deeply etched singing bird is perched on one frond of each flower. Near center of bowl, a smaller etched flower with wheat or laurel-like leaves fills the spaces between the major motifs. The glass of the bowl is 1/2" thick throughout. There are a number of chips and fleabites on the lip, commensurate with age and use. There is some very minor wear on bottom of bowl. It appears to have been a much-loved, prize possession.
